Financial Institutions Underwriting Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Underwriter to join Chubb's UK Financial Institutions Team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in our underwriting team, responsible for driving growth within our Portfolio by engaging with key Brokers and Clients, while also managing and nurturing a portfolio of existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Objectives: Underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with established underwriting guidelines, specified budget, and local business strategy.
- Portfolio Management: Assist in developing underwriting strategies, forecasts, and portfolio oversight to ensure profitability. Engage in quality control through quantitative underwriting reviews and participate in regular team discussions and peer evaluations.
- Product Innovation: Contribute to the creation of products within the business class to enhance client retention and foster new business opportunities. This may involve collaboration with colleagues across various business lines.
- Broker Relations: Represent and promote Chubb to brokers and both internal and external clients. This includes servicing key producers and clients, tracking business acquisition and retention, and maximizing cross-selling opportunities.
- Compliance and Procedures: Adhere to company standards regarding policy documentation, timelines for quoting new and renewal business, and compliance matters.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and manage junior team members, providing training and coaching as necessary to maintain a high-quality underwriting team.
- Chubb Ambassador: Act as a representative of Chubb, engaging with internal colleagues and external clients and brokers.
- Expertise: Demonstrate experience in underwriting for Financial Institutions and engage directly with clients on complex issues.
- Market Reputation: Maintain a strong market presence as a technical expert, proactively identifying opportunities and taking initiatives to support business objectives.
- Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with strong influencing and negotiation skills. Build solid relationships with brokers and clients while showcasing analytical and financial assessment skills.
- Broker Engagement: Solid experience in dealing with brokers and clients.
- Qualifications: ACII designation preferred.
