Main Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Dental Nurse to join our Community Dental Team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day line management of dental nurses across all localities, ensuring a high standard of clinical care is maintained at all times.

The post holder will also provide Senior Dental Nurse support throughout the dental care and treatment of adults and children with special needs. You will be provided with a base clinic when appointed but will be expected to work flexibly across different clinics across South Tyneside, Sunderland, and Gateshead.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for work and clinic allocation to ensure the smooth facilitation of all dental clinics across South Tyneside, Gateshead, and Sunderland.
  • Provide the day-to-day first-line management to dental nurses and oversee the administration team.
  • Support the development of the dental nursing team to ensure the smooth running of the service.
  • Work alongside other senior nurses within the dental nursing team to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ level 3 in dental nursing.
  • National Dental Nursing post-qualification NVQ level 4.
  • Registration with the General Dental Council.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have:

  • Up-to-date knowledge in all areas of dental nursing.
  • A flexible approach to day-to-day working.
  • Reliable evidence of CPD and a strong commitment to the development of dental nursing.
