We are seeking a dedicated Preconstruction Project/Bid Manager to enhance our team. Reporting directly to the Preconstruction Manager, the ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and oversee the successful execution of bids, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards, while striving to exceed customer expectations.

With a solid history of managing successful projects, you will take charge of both single and two-stage tenders for projects valued between £10m and £80m across various sectors, including Residential, Educational, Recreational, Commercial, Emergency Services, and Healthcare. At Willmott Dixon, we leverage multiple frameworks, increasing the likelihood of seeing your efforts come to fruition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspire and lead a bid team comprising both internal resources (estimators, design experts, MEP specialists, bid writers, and planners) and external partners (supply chain and consultants).
  • Facilitate inception workshops with clients, utilizing your strong listening abilities to fully grasp their motivations, thereby equipping your bid team with essential insights to excel.
  • Manage client expectations through both informal and formal 'health checks', maintaining a professional and considerate demeanor to foster positive working relationships.
  • Develop and implement project strategies that align with the company's sustainability goals.
  • Ensure consistent monitoring and reporting on progress, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and initiating proactive and corrective measures as necessary.
  • Promote continuous professional development for yourself and your team to maintain technical proficiency, implement best practices, and drive ongoing improvement.
  • Maintain a collaborative 'one team' ethos to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to operational phases.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge of complex construction projects from operational, design, commercial, or preconstruction perspectives.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer and stakeholder service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in a construction-related field.
  • CIOB membership or equivalent credentials.
  • Experience in managing bids within the construction industry.
