Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Mail Clerk to join our team at MASHPOINT LLC. As a Mail Clerk, you will be responsible for operating a mail inserter and maintaining accurate records of postal meter logs and production reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mail Preparation and Handling: Prepare and account for deliverables requiring special handling due to unique sizes or shapes. Operate various types of machines, including different inserters.
  • Deadline Management: Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly mailing deadlines are met in a deadline-driven print shop environment.
  • Mail Processing: Process, distribute, and pick up mail for customer agencies efficiently. Handle mail pickup from the elevator, distribution, and postage metering.
  • Machine Operation and Maintenance: Operate mail inserting machines, perform preventive maintenance, and make corrective adjustments. Keep the area clean and alert the supervisor about supply needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Follow QA/QC procedures to deliver high-quality service. Comprehend and accurately complete job orders, asking questions if requirements are unclear.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining mailroom inventory and notify the supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Leadership Responsibilities: Assume clerical and operational responsibilities of the Mailing Services group leader in the supervisor's absence. Manage time, organize incoming jobs, and ensure work is completed.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all standards, including special training for Department of Revenue jobs requiring high security.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility in accepting assignments and taking initiative when needed.
Job Requirements
  • Training: The department provides thorough training until the employee is confident. We are looking for someone eager to learn and engage in training.
  • Work Environment: The job is in a machine room with printing, inserting, and mailing equipment operating on two floors. It is a noisy environment, but headphones (noise-cancelling or music) are allowed.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires standing for most of the day while operating equipment with multiple breaks.
Qualifications
  • Massachusetts Class D Driver's License.
  • Ability to consistently complete tasks promptly.
  • Demonstrated ability to uncover and correct errors before distribution.
  • Effective communication skills for transmitting, receiving, and interpreting information.
  • Enjoyment of a fast-paced environment, confidence in asking questions, and ability to work individually or in a team.
  • Competency in basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel and Word); beginner to advanced beginner level is acceptable.
  • Proven customer service skills, primarily on the telephone.
  • Ability to lift and/or push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass fingerprinting and security screening due to Department of Revenue requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in office work, including processing incoming and/or outgoing mail.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques used in machine operations, adjustments, and care.
