Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

A fantastic all-through SEN school in Barnet is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to manage pupils with SEMH needs.

The majority of pupils have a range of mild to complex learning needs, but they also have social-emotional needs that require a firm yet nurturing approach.

The Headteacher has created a supportive and positive school culture, and they also have brand-new sensory equipment.

The ideal candidate should have experience working with children and young people with SEMH and be confident in managing challenging behavior. The candidate should also be able to work well as part of a team and have strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in a classroom setting
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage challenging behavior
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to provide a comprehensive support package
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers to ensure consistency and continuity
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture

This is a temporary position with the possibility of extension. The salary is £80-90 per day (PAYE), depending on experience and qualifications. The position is full-time and the successful candidate will be expected to work Monday to Friday during term-time.
