Position Overview

Binnies, a member of the RSK Group, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Lead to become a vital part of our team within the @One Alliance.

What You Will Be Responsible For

In the role of Senior Electrical Engineering Lead, you will offer technical guidance to engineers within your discipline. Your expertise will be crucial in providing design assistance for projects, ensuring that all engineering solutions comply with current regulations and standards.

You will oversee the evaluation and verification of electrical design outputs generated by fellow engineers in the @One Alliance and the supply chain, ensuring adherence to established processes and protocols. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and developing less experienced engineers within the electrical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular updates to the Principal Engineer.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, Portfolio Design Managers, and Project Design Managers to understand project timelines and design review schedules.
  • Assess specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to guarantee compliance with quality, safety, and technical standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
  • Address design queries and change requests from construction sites and the supply chain to ensure timely and accurate resolutions.
  • Contribute to Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning strategy discussions.
  • Work closely with the Principal Engineer and Design Managers to identify and implement potential improvements.
  • Coordinate with other departments and project teams regarding design specifications.
  • Ensure quality control throughout the design workflow in alignment with project deadlines.
  • Assist other leads and discipline engineers in meeting their engineering deliverables on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Promote sustainable and low-carbon design practices.
  • Advocate for offsite construction, modular building, and standardized solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you should possess an engineering degree or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through relevant experience, ideally holding or working towards Chartered status. A strong background in water-sector assets and capital projects is essential. You should be well-versed in all pertinent regulations, standards, and codes of practice, with experience in mentoring junior engineers being highly desirable. Familiarity with a Design & Build environment is an added advantage.

Your leadership capabilities should reflect integrity, ethical conduct, and respect for others, ensuring responsible actions that uphold our reputation. You will foster effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement at all levels, demonstrating emotional intelligence by adapting to the needs of others and promoting diversity and inclusion. Your decision-making skills will be critical in guiding others with sound judgment, leveraging technical expertise to select appropriate design methodologies while exercising independent judgment and enhancing practices as necessary.
