Safety Case Author Job Description

Amentum is a leading global technical and engineering services partner, renowned for its commitment to safety and ethics. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Safety Case Author to join our team on a major project.

Job Purpose and Scope

As a Safety Case Author, you will be part of our major programme safety case capability, providing radiological safety assessment and expertise. You will be accountable to the Safety Case Manager and will work closely with engineering, project management, and document management functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake radiological safety assessments and associated activities, interfacing with engineering, project management, and document management functions.
  • Act in any safety assessment or equivalent role.
  • Support the Safety Case Manager and wider Programme safety case and engineering leads.
  • Assist the Head of Profession in capability development and establishment of resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence.
  • Advise Amentum and Client leadership on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  • Interface with suppliers and support the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education).
  • Experience of human factors assessment, HAZAN production, and UK and International standards.
  • Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Experience of ergonomics/human factors design.
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  • Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
  • Good MS applications, organizational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
Desirable
  • Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, and regulatory guidance on safety assessment.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
  • Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
  • Project management and project controls skills.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and coach.
