Team and Role Summary
Effective risk management is essential to all operations at BII. The Risk Office plays a crucial role in identifying, mitigating, and managing risks while ensuring transparency with stakeholders. The Operational Risk team is a key component, tasked with the development and execution of BII's comprehensive operational risk management framework, which includes:
- Assisting risk owners in recognizing and prioritizing risks, enabling informed decision-making regarding which risks necessitate further attention, ultimately minimizing potential impacts on BII.
- Delivering organization-wide risk reports to the Operations Committee, Risk Committee, Board, and Shareholder, allowing these entities to comprehend the primary risks facing BII and the management strategies in place, and to guide management in taking additional actions if necessary.
- Continuously enhancing BII's risk framework, adapting to evolving external expectations.
The Operational Risk Analyst will support the Operational Risk Director in fulfilling these responsibilities, with a specific emphasis on reporting and managing the tools utilized to evaluate operational risks at BII (such as risk registers, risk event reporting, and key risk indicators). Initially, the Analyst will focus on BII's corporate teams but is expected to provide backup support for the investment and impact teams.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Risk Management
- Lead operational risk initiatives, initially for corporate functions, including managing BII's risk register program, conducting risk register reviews, and overseeing risk event management for these teams.
- Collaborate with risk owners to ensure risks are accurately identified and assessed, following up on proposed action plans to ensure implementation.
- Perform root-cause analyses and evaluate trends in risk events, recommending measures to mitigate the likelihood of future occurrences.
- Review key risk indicators and metrics as part of risk assessments.
Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) System
- Become a subject matter expert on Riskonnect, BII's GRC software.
- Act as the Risk team's point of contact for Riskonnect, including managing access.
- Ensure the information within the tool remains relevant and propose enhancements.
- Serve as the SME for report generation and extraction from Riskonnect.
Reporting
- Prepare regular risk management presentations for BII's governance committees and the Board Risk Committee.
- Assist the Operational Risk team in delivering timely and high-quality risk management reports to the CRO, Operations Committee, Risk Committee of the Board, and Shareholder.
- Quarterly submission of process risk metrics, contributing to the monitoring of BII's Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).
- Develop and produce new reports, including those on risk events, key risk indicators, risk appetite, and risk-related actions.
Ad-hoc Projects
- Support BII's Risk Director in executing projects aimed at enhancing BII's risk framework or addressing specific high-priority risks.
Risk Culture
- Act as an advocate for risk culture dissemination, including designing and delivering training to stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience in operational risk or risk reporting, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Ability to apply operational risk assessment methodologies, including risk control self-assessment (RCSA).
- Proficient in gathering, analyzing, evaluating, and presenting risk management data, including risk events and key risk indicators.
- Skilled in preparing and delivering concise oral and written reports.
- Exhibits analytical rigor and attention to detail, particularly in report preparation and data analysis.
- Familiarity with PowerBI is advantageous. Experience with Riskonnect or Salesforce-based GRC tools is not mandatory, but the successful candidate should be willing to become proficient in it.
