Senior Hydraulic Wastewater Engineer

We are seeking to hire multiple Senior Hydraulic Wastewater Engineers to support various significant long-term initiatives across the UK.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises a diverse team of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts dedicated to Asset Management and Operational Strategy development for our Water Industry clients, facilitating effective business planning and execution. This dynamic sector presents challenges and opportunities that demand innovation, commitment, and teamwork to fulfill our clients' requirements.

In addition to the primary framework, we collaborate with several major water organizations across the UK, maintaining a wide array of long-term agreements.

Our Water Consultancy division is engaged in a variety of prestigious programs, ensuring a secure career path for the future while leaving a meaningful legacy.

About You:

Candidates should have prior experience in urban drainage projects, along with expertise in InfoWorks ICM and relevant GIS applications.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong collaborative skills and the ability to integrate smoothly into a team environment. They will also have opportunities to develop their mentoring abilities and provide technical support to fellow modeling professionals, demonstrating leadership in urban drainage scenarios while emphasizing exceptional client service.

Your Responsibilities:

Oversee all health, safety, quality, and environmental aspects of projects. Technical development and execution of wastewater catchment strategies and solutions (including hydraulic modeling and analysis, model use studies, optioneering, and cost-benefit analysis studies, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards). Awareness of feasibility and buildability engineering considerations. Continuous enhancement of tools, procedures, and processes to drive efficiency and innovation. Ensure quality outputs and compliance with standards, specifications, and governance requirements. Responsible for reporting on commercial performance, forecasting, and risk management. Prepare bids and proposals. Travel to client sites or other RPS Group offices may be necessary. Lead a team to establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients. Provide line management for project team members, including day-to-day leadership, workload planning, technical direction, performance management, and career development. Foster collaboration with other RPS Group disciplines.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Proficient understanding of relevant legislation and water industry regulations. Technical leadership in wastewater catchment planning, industry regulations, and legislation. Ability to manage (or assist project managers in managing) projects of varying sizes and complexities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to coordinate and manage staff at all levels, including mentoring less experienced colleagues, enhancing organizational effectiveness, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Expertise in using InfoWorks ICM and ICM Exchange. Extensive knowledge in hydraulic modeling, catchment planning, and related wastewater infrastructure areas, ensuring compliance with client standards and specifications. Proficiency in MS 365 applications, with knowledge in advanced Excel, PowerBI, and SharePoint. Familiarity with GIS Systems (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS). Experience with FME, Optimatics, Python (or similar) is advantageous.

Qualifications:

Ideally degree-qualified in a relevant technical field. Postgraduate qualifications are a plus. Chartered or working towards chartership for Senior or Principal grades. Affiliated with a professional institution such as IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or in the process of pursuing membership.
