English Specialist Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Specialist Teacher to join our team at Oakwood Specialist College. As a key member of our teaching staff, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to our neurodiverse learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver engaging English curriculum for learners working at pre-entry and level 2
  • Take a leading role in our English curriculum, working closely with the wider teaching team to embed functional English skills
  • Monitor and record progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes
  • Provide inspirational learning opportunities to learners, whether in the classroom or out in the community
  • Work closely with Learning Support Assistants to direct them to effectively support the learners

  • Adaptability in teaching style to meet the diverse needs of our learners
  • A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of people with a wide range of needs
  • Ability to recognize when a learner's progress is at risk and where we could improve
