About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cleaning Operative to join our team at Derwent FM. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our communal areas, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weekly cleaning of communal areas, including dusting, wiping, descaling, vacuuming, and mopping
  • Student kitchen checks and end-of-tenancy deep cleans
  • Operating cleaning machinery and equipment
  • Assisting contractors and maintaining safe storage of cleaning materials
  • Reporting issues and taking initiative to resolve problems

Requirements

  • Experience in a similar environment, with safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals
  • Training in BICS Standards or equivalent NVQ Levels 1 or 2
  • Good communication and customer-focused attitude
  • Proactive and able to work independently, completing tasks to a high standard within agreed timescales
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with an accommodation provider
  • NVQ cleaning qualification
  • Key Skills Level 2 in English and Maths
  • Manual Handling and Customer Service Training
  • Knowledge of stock control procedures
