SEND Teaching Assistant Role in Wimbledon

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a mainstream Secondary School in Wimbledon. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the SENCO to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching to pupils with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of quality learning and teaching to pupils with special educational needs
  • Encourage participation and independence in students with a range of additional and complex needs
  • Work with children and young people with ADHD, ASC, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, speech language and communication needs, and resistant behavior
  • Undertake specified work with individuals, groups, and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher
Requirements:
  • Strong attainment across GCSE and A-Level
  • Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents/carers
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work and student behaviors
  • Good understanding of the way children learn and previous knowledge of ASC and ADHD
  • Good organizational skills and a positive, resilient mindset
