Position Overview

The Specialised Decision Unit (SDU) represents a cutting-edge initiative within the field of emergency healthcare. This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of a team that values innovative and proactive professionals dedicated to advancing their nursing careers.

Key Responsibilities

The primary role of the SDU is to enable same-day diagnostic procedures for patients referred by the Specialty Team who do not qualify for outpatient services, urgent clinics, immediate discharge, or hospital admission.

The SDU Team will conduct thorough assessments, leading to clinical decisions regarding observation, treatment, discharge, or referral to the most suitable specialty area. The unit will provide personalized observation and care for each patient within the six-bed capacity of Ward 126.

Our objective is to ensure that no patient remains hospitalized longer than necessary and, whenever feasible, to assist each individual in returning to their home environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse on the professional register

  • Recognized qualification in teaching and assessment

  • Experience in performing dressings
  • Background as a student or registered nurse in an acute care environment
  • Ability to articulate the requirements for maintaining high standards of care
