Electronics Engineer

GE Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Power Electronics Engineer to lead and perform low-voltage and medium-voltage power electronics and electrical design tasks on Drive System projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for specifying, designing, and documenting power electronics converters technical solutions to meet specific application requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the electrical and mechanical design of power, control, and cooling systems, including specifying, designing, and documenting power electronics converters technical solutions.
- Undertake all aspects of power electronics circuits design, snubber design, gating electronics design, thermal design, and electrical design, requiring semiconductor device domain knowledge.
- Drive system-level understanding for fault-level study and protection strategy.
- Produce schematics with Eplan (or equivalent) for circuits.
- Manage bill of material BOMs, maintaining control with change management process.
- Maintain requirements, understanding, and delivering against FMEA and lesson learned.
- Verify, validate, and test low-voltage and medium-voltage power electronic systems, drives/converters/inverters of MW range power systems, including power electronic inverter full temperature heat run test, EMC, overload, abnormal testing conditions, and performance evaluation and optimization.
- Ensure power electronic system designs comply with relevant health and safety, international standards, and class society rules.
- Apply engineering standards and develop design practices.
- Support attainment of on-time delivery, cost, and quality targets on projects.
- Provide technical assistance to tendering, test, and commissioning teams.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree, master's or PhD degree in power electronics is desirable.
- Knowledge of power electronic converter control systems design and analysis.
- Knowledge of power electronics converter design and electrical machines control methods is desirable.
- Good semiconductor device domain knowledge and their associated gating electronics and snubber circuits design and thermal design.
- Willing to travel within the UK and overseas for short-term working.
- Able to achieve UK security clearance.
- Undertake modeling, analysis, and simulation of power electronic converter systems, using standard industrial design tools such as Matlab, Simulink, PLECS, PSpice, Mathcad, CFD, etc. (Desired)
- Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects, adapt to changing circumstances, and make positive use of the opportunities it presents. (Desired)
