Job Description

Job Title: Clinical Sister

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Sister to join our team at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and delivering theatre care in the peri-operative setting.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: To act as a scrub team leader, organizing and overseeing smooth running lists, and to be responsible for an identified group of staff, developing, training, monitoring, and documenting the development of their clinical skills.
  • Quality and Safety: To establish, lead, and maintain high standards of pre/peri and postoperative care, and to contribute positively towards the delivery of a cost-effective service, adjusting staffing levels to meet demand and assisting the clinical coordinators to keep within agreed resources.
  • Communication and Teamwork: To participate in CMH on-call rota and to work collaboratively with other teams to ensure seamless delivery of care.
  • Professional Development: To maintain and enhance professional skills and knowledge through continuous professional development and to stay up-to-date with current issues in operating theatre.
Person Specification:
  • Education and Qualifications: Registered Nurse or registered ODP, Teaching and Supervision qualification.
  • Essential Criteria: Extensive experience in theatre scrub and team lead in orthopaedic theatre, evidence of continuous professional development, teaching and assessment experience.
  • Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of current issues in operating theatre, knowledge of people management, appraisal skill, competent IT skill.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Ability to organize day-to-day theatre activities, lead and delegate appropriately in Theatre, excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to critically analyze and reflect on own practice to seek improvement.
