Controls Systems Specialist for New Production Lines

As a Controls Systems Specialist, you will become part of a dynamic division at SEGULA Technologies, which presents significant opportunities for professional advancement within a consultancy that collaborates with diverse clients across various sectors. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, refine, and execute control specifications and standards for manufacturing machinery and systems, ensuring the integration of IT solutions and adherence to safety protocols. This role encompasses mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, programmable logic controller (PLC) software, and robotic programming software development.

Role Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution of control systems and standards to guarantee production-ready equipment interfaces.
  • Fostering strong collaborative relationships with other Manufacturing Engineering teams, Operations, and IT Departments.
  • Offering technical guidance during problem-solving initiatives to accurately diagnose root causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Upholding Technical Standards, Project Documentation, and specifications for all manufacturing systems in alignment with departmental processes, global operating practices, and quality assurance systems.
  • Managing interface specifications from Shop Floor PLCs/Applications to Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Commissioning and enhancing machine monitoring and quality systems within production environments.
  • Identifying and developing new suppliers cost-effectively in accordance with the group’s Equipment Manufacturing Standards.
  • Performing additional tasks as directed by the line manager relevant to the role.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience and proficiency in the specification, implementation, installation, and launch of control systems, ideally within the automotive or propulsion sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems and designs in manufacturing settings.
  • Familiarity with Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) programming techniques.
  • Awareness of machinery safety regulations and standards.
  • Experience with PLC systems.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet Networks.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively.
  • Proactive mindset, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth.

Additional Information

  • Contract Duration: 12 months+ (Fixed term or IIR35)
  • Location: Birmingham
  • Compensation: Salary/rate will be commensurate with experience
