About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award holder. This prestigious award provides an opportunity to pursue a practice-based PhD project that critically investigates approaches to structured interreligious encounter and exchange.

Project Overview:

The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project co-led by Professor Esra Özyürek and Ms Carrie Alderton, co-supervisor, and Head of Programmes at the Faith and Belief Forum. The project will focus on the interaction between interfaith programmes and the goal of reducing prejudice and discrimination, whether in terms of religion or belief, gender, race, nationality, or other intersectional identities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a critical investigation of approaches to structured interreligious encounter and exchange
  • Develop a unique focus on the interaction between interfaith programmes and the goal of reducing prejudice and discrimination
  • Work closely with the project team to achieve project objectives

Funding and Benefits:

The AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award provides an annual maintenance grant to cover living costs and university tuition fees at home fee level. The fee gap between the home and overseas fee rates will be covered by the University through internal co-funding for international candidates.

How to Apply:

Applications will need to be made through the University Postgraduate Application Portal. Informal enquiries about the project should be directed to the University supervisor.
