DevOps Engineer

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in optimizing the performance and reliability of our infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will encompass a blend of operational tasks and project work, allowing you to contribute to both the day-to-day running of our systems and the development of innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture, to understand upcoming projects and align your efforts with overall strategic goals.
  • Configure and manage cloud infrastructure and services, primarily within the Azure environment.
  • Proactively monitor system performance and identify potential issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of our critical systems.
  • Optimize and manage cloud resources, including virtual machines, containers, and storage solutions, to ensure efficient utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency within the infrastructure team.
  • Document procedures and workflows meticulously to ensure consistency, scalability, and knowledge sharing across the team.

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Possess proficiency in scripting languages and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Exhibit knowledge of security best practices and the ability to implement robust security controls at the infrastructure level.
  • Showcase strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a proven ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, collaborating seamlessly with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrate a results-driven approach, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and driving positive outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Microsoft Azure Certification.
  • ITIL Foundation v3/v4 certification.
