Position Overview: The Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated and skilled neurosurgical senior Clinical Fellow at the post CCT level. This role involves participation in a middle-grade rota, which operates on a 1:9 to 1:12 basis, alongside a 24/7 consultant rota specializing in complex spine and cranial procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support both inpatient and outpatient services for cranial and spinal care.
  • Contribute to the regional on-call service for Hull and the Yorkshire & Humber area.
  • Engage with a diverse patient population from various regions, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.

Departmental Structure: The Neurosurgical Unit has significantly expanded, growing from 2 to 13 Consultants over the last two decades to meet increasing clinical demands. The Trust encompasses various specialized departments, including Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neuro-radiology, Neuro-rehabilitation, Neurophysiology, and Neuro-pathology, across two main hospital sites.

Team Composition: The service includes a robust team of 12 Registrar level posts, alongside multiple Clinical Fellows and a Royal College of Surgery approved spinal fellow. The current team of 12 Substantive Consultants brings a wealth of expertise in complex spine surgery and related specialties.

This fellowship program will benefit from the mentorship of all consultants specializing in complex spine surgery, ensuring a rich learning environment for the post holder.
