Experienced Project Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at ZipRecruiter. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the estimating process for our projects, working closely with our design engineers, project managers, and senior leadership to develop estimates that align with project goals and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Estimate Preparation: Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for our projects.
- Project Analysis: Analyze project specifications, drawings, and design documentation to fully understand scope and requirements.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and senior leadership to develop estimates that align with project goals and client expectations.
- Mentorship: Manage and mentor junior estimators, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Cost Management: Source and evaluate costs for materials, equipment, and subcontractors specific to tunnelling and underground construction.
- Tender Preparation: Prepare and present comprehensive tender documents and proposals, ensuring all risks and opportunities are fully considered.
- Database Management: Maintain and update a database of historical costs and pricing information to inform future estimates.
- Client Communication: Participate in client meetings, site visits, and design reviews to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
- Industry Monitoring: Continuously monitor industry trends, cost fluctuations, and new technologies to ensure competitive and accurate estimating.
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in estimating within the construction industry, specifically the Tunnelling and Trenchless industry.
- Proven track record of successfully leading the estimating process for complex projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Membership in a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is desirable but not essential.
