Senior Buyer and Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer and Procurement Specialist to join our Purchasing Department at Nicholas Associates. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing strategic procurement support to ensure the continuity and efficiency of our production and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Purchase goods, materials, components, and services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  2. Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems that may pose a risk or impact to our business operations.
  3. Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings using negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
  4. Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
  5. Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
  6. Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to understand future requirements as our business looks to further improve its product offering to meet customers' needs.
  7. Help to develop creative and innovative procurement processes and implement KPIs to analyze and improve supplier performance.
  8. Maintain records and documentation within the department to allow full traceability, resolve invoice queries, and assist with MRP when necessary.
  9. Work collaboratively and negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies, and initiatives and advise of impact of change on purchasing and production activities.

Requirements:

  1. CIPS Level 4-6 or similar qualification in Purchasing or at least 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  2. Extensive demonstrable experience of Supplier selection/Management and audit.
  3. Previous experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  4. Proficient in the use of MS Office - Excel & Word.
  5. Strong planning and organizational skills.
  6. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision, prioritize workload, and be a good team player.

  2. 37.50 Hours per week, Mon-Thurs pm, Friday pm (Early finish on a Friday).
