About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Maintenance Technician to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited. As a Mobile Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our mechanical plant equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure assets are returned to production in a timely manner.
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment.
  • Own small-scale projects and deliver them in a pragmatic and proactive manner.
  • Take a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers when they are on site.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experience.
  • Work with risk assessments and method statements.
  • Contribute to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures.
  • Maintain and promote Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system and record all work, including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out.

Requirements:

  • Recognized apprenticeship (preferably a higher-level standard) or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working within a strong, practical mechanical systems environment, preferably within heavy industry.
  • Experience working with conveyors, drive systems, motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, and vibratory screens.
  • Strong fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action.
  • Ability to remove and fit bearings.
  • Experience of welding and fabricating.
  • Capability to undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Self-motivated approach and enthusiastic.
  • Capability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to use application-based inspection schemes.
  • Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly.
  • Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices.
  • ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential).
  • A full UK driving license with less than 6 points is essential.
