Job Summary:

This is a full-time on-site role located in Wigan, with a 6-week rolling rota including sleep-in shifts. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered to the young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care and support to children, assisting them with daily activities, personal care, and emotional well-being.
  • Implement personalised care plans and individual support programs tailored to the specific needs of each child.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued, and respected.
  • Collaborate with external professionals, such as social workers, therapists, and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive care and support for the children.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each child's progress, incidents, and observations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in residential care, preferably within a children's residential care setting.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building rapport with children, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience to handle challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
