The Engineering Operations Manager will be responsible for spearheading the Engineering and Technical strategy for the implementation of a new waste management pathway for Contact Handleable Intermediate Level Waste and/or Remote Handleable Intermediate Level Waste.
This role entails leading the Engineering and Technical planning efforts to establish a new waste management route, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project timelines.
- Assessing resource requirements to identify additional personnel needs to guarantee all project deliverables are produced and validated according to the established schedule.
- Collaborating with other Project Discipline leaders to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Guiding the team in engaging with program and technical stakeholders to define and agree upon project/system/component specifications.
The Engineering Operations Manager will be expected to fulfill the responsibilities associated with the SL role ED019 and demonstrate the necessary qualifications and experience for the EOM Role (SR0754).
Candidates should possess substantial experience in an engineering design context, where a strong understanding of engineering principles is essential.
Recent experience in a regulated and quality-controlled environment (preferably within the nuclear sector) is required, with a focus on professional engineering judgment.
Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards governing the nuclear industry (equivalent experience from other sectors may be considered) is essential, including but not limited to: Health & Safety at Work Act, The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, and Ionising Radiation.
Experience in identifying Technological Readiness Levels and formulating technology development strategies is also necessary.
A Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) is required, along with a proven track record of successful project delivery and the ability to influence and guide technical teams.
Membership in an appropriate Engineering or Scientific Institution is preferred.

- Possessing foundational knowledge of Safety Case structures and associated safety and engineering practices.
