About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work with NHS Lanarkshire on a twelve month fixed term basis. The postholder will offer leadership/management cover for the service.

NHS Lanarkshire is a specialist service for military Veterans and is hosted within NHS Lanarkshire. Service provision includes individualised packages of care to address social, welfare, and mental health needs. The service is part of 6 Regional bases within the V1P network and adheres to this model, whilst adapting this locally to best fit a Lanarkshire context. The team comprises of a mix of Psychological Therapy Staff, Peer Support Workers and a Service Administrator.

The service is a member of the Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services (QNVMHS), Royal College of Psychiatrists having formally being awarded accreditation in September 2023. This post holder will take a key role in overseeing and implementing an action plan for ongoing quality improvement and service development based on the feedback and recommendations of the review. There are considerable opportunities for local service development and quality improvement, and contribution at a National Level.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, and will have experience in the management or co-ordination of personnel delivering clinical services.

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of all relevant professional issues, including classification and epidemiological issues, psychopathology, and lifespan development issues. They will also have experience in policy design and implementation, and service planning at both the local and national level.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and improving health outcomes for our communities. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and team player, with excellent leadership and management skills.
