Engineering Stores and Inventory Optimization Lead

Our BusinessWe supply all the UK's food retailers with a wide range of products, from sandwiches and soups to cooking sauces, pickles, and ready meals. In the last fiscal year, we generated revenues of £1.9 billion. Our direct-to-store distribution network enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties.
The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Stores Improvement Programme Lead for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the engineering stores improvement programme across the Greencore estate. This role will involve working closely with site engineering teams to implement a standardized approach to the engineering stores programme.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a change catalyst to liaise with manufacturing units to standardize store layouts, workflows, SOPs, group policies, and procedures.
- Work with the procurement team to determine our preferred supplier list (PSL).
- Partner with suppliers to improve material quality and performance while reducing inventory and costs.
- Complete asset registers and bills of materials for site equipment to identify replacement parts.
- Define an engineering stores/inventory strategy, including standardized methods and processes.
- Degree-level education or equivalent in Business, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Knowledge of building a world-class engineering store.
- Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance/Lean approaches.
- Ability to analyze cost effectiveness and make sound commercial and business decisions to reduce costs.
- Exposure to driving continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites.
- Understanding of engineering inventory systems, ideally through Mainsaver.
- Experience in successful system deployment, including the latest knowledge of Industry 4.0 across multiple sites.
- Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PowerBI, and experience with defining and deploying Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) across multiple sites.
