Harrogate, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom Redcentric Full time
Position Overview: Lead Financial Strategist - Financial Planning & Analysis

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to take charge of our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This role involves close collaboration with both central reporting and divisional finance teams to thoroughly assess and interpret current financial performance while projecting future outcomes. A meticulous attention to detail and a curious mindset are essential for engaging with key stakeholders to uncover the underlying factors influencing financial results, thereby providing critical insights to decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Accountability for the organization’s budgets and forecasts, implementing controls to ensure they are both resilient and adaptable to future business changes.
  • Preparation of essential internal financial planning documents, including presentations for executive-level review, such as annual budgets and significant re-forecasts.
  • Collaboration with divisional finance teams and non-financial stakeholders to consistently track performance against forecasts/budgets, analyze variances, and adjust forecasts as needed.
  • Monthly forecasting and reconciliation of critical financial metrics, including net debt, working capital, free cash flow, and capital expenditures.
  • Modeling and monitoring compliance with banking covenants, along with the generation of quarterly reports for the banking syndicate.
  • Oversight of the organization’s assessments of going concern and impairment reviews to support annual and semi-annual reporting, including coordination with auditors.
  • Ongoing evaluation of the organization’s financial performance to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities, providing timely advice to senior finance leadership.
  • Leadership in the implementation of a new forecasting and budgeting tool, ensuring ongoing engagement and driving system enhancements for optimal functionality.
  • Acting as a key contributor to the organization’s transition to advanced business intelligence reporting, particularly through the use of Power BI.
  • Leading financial contributions to special projects requiring financial modeling, including mergers and acquisitions and strategic initiatives, in close partnership with senior finance leadership.
Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable experience in a comparable role. While experience in a contractual recurring revenue environment is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite. A qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) is required for this position.

The successful applicant will exhibit the following skills, experience, and attributes:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the capability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to maintain a holistic view of the business.
  • Adaptability to manage shifting priorities with minimal notice.
  • A proactive mindset, consistently seeking innovative or improved operational methods.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while effectively communicating progress.
  • Capacity to work independently, considering the organization’s priorities.
  • Advanced IT proficiency, particularly in Excel, with proven experience in developing forecasting models.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
