Job Summary

The Heart of Newhaven is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Officer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the upkeep, maintenance, and repairs of our buildings and grounds.

Main Responsibilities
  • Facilities Management: Ensure the safety and security of our buildings and grounds, including the upkeep and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and systems.
  • Building Operations: Manage and organize the use of our buildings for day-to-day activities, events, and hires, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Carry out basic maintenance and repairs throughout our buildings and grounds, working with contractors as needed to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that all safety procedures and management plans are followed to ensure the security of our buildings and the safety and well-being of our users.
  • Communication: Facilitate and inform about safe and practical use of our buildings' rooms for a variety of activities and events.
Requirements
  • Autonomy and Self-Motivation: The post holder will be given a high degree of autonomy and will be self-motivated to play a key role in the day-to-day management of our spaces, buildings, and grounds.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with staff, contractors, and users.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to problem-solve and think critically to resolve maintenance and repair issues.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions

The role is based on-site at the Heart of Newhaven, and the role holder must be readily able to commute to this location. Some evening and/or weekend work will be required, and the Heart operates a Time Off in Lieu system for staff working overtime in accordance with our policy.
