Job Summary

Widener University is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Shuttle Bus Driver to provide transportation services to the campus community and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate 14-passenger vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle safety inspections
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the vehicle to ensure safety and cleanliness
  • Adhere to assigned route and time schedule
  • Comply with state and federal regulations, as well as University policies and procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly demeanor
  • Monitor roadways and parking lot areas for potential hazards
  • Maintain accurate rider logs as instructed
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past five years
  • Ability to operate a vehicle in inclement weather
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle demanding situations tactfully
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience driving large groups
  • Valid commercial driver's license
  • Familiarity with the local area and community
  • Experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience working at a school or university
Physical Requirements and Unusual Hours
  • May work weekends, holidays, nights, and special events
  • Sitting in a vehicle for extended periods
  • Ability to enter and exit the vehicle as needed to assist passengers
  • Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 40-50 lbs
