Job Overview

As a pivotal member of the Finance team, reporting directly to the Controller, you will oversee cost accounting functions. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver comprehensive costing analysis and maintain precise costing models that support the business's financial health. This role is essential for the organization's success, requiring close collaboration with the Operations Director, Project Manager, and Supply Chain Manager to enhance reporting and drive operational efficiencies. Additionally, you will partner with the sales team to analyze and prepare cost roll-ups for project budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a dedicated Cost Accounting Team to ensure management receives accurate and timely cost information to facilitate profitable business operations.
  • Guarantee the prompt and precise provision of financial data, including actual product costs and variance explanations.
  • Assist the Controller and Operations with various reporting requests.
  • Support month-end responsibilities, including journal entries and financial reports.
  • Provide insights on product costs, conduct 'what if' analyses, and recommend optimal actions for the business.
  • Engage in and/or spearhead cost reduction initiatives.
  • Participate in regular cost review meetings concerning projects.
  • Contribute to cost evaluations for continuous improvement projects and assess their feasibility.
  • Implement and enhance efficient working methods within systems and processes.
  • Engage in broader team initiatives that align with our strategic business goals.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships through exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Support the Supply Chain team with inventory management, including stocktake and cycle count accuracy.
  • Assist internal and external auditors as required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle and SOX Controls.
  • Familiarity with standard costing and job costing.

Required Qualifications

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Extensive post-qualification accounting experience (5+ years) in finance operations or accounting roles, preferably within industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on numerical and financial management.
  • Problem-solving capabilities for addressing month-end challenges and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Prior experience in team management, emphasizing mentoring and development.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.
