We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a background in plumbing to join our team at HMP The Verne, a category C adult male prison.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the smooth and safe operation of the prison. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial and industrial heating and water systems, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety requirements.

• Maintain and repair commercial and industrial heating and water systems
• Ensure compliance with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
• Work on a variety of plumbing and heating systems, including commercial and industrial installations
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the prison
• Contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance plans and procedures

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent
• Familiarity with and ability to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
• Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems
• Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
• C&G 6189 Plumbing and domestic heating
• C&G 5962 certificate in Plumbing (Advanced craft)
• C&G 6019 Mechanical Engineering services (plumbing)
• C&G 6018 heating and ventilation installation
• C&G 6129 certificate in Plumbing
• C&G 214 Engineering systems maintenance
• C&G 6188 Heating and ventilating
• C&G 6088 certificate in heating and ventilating
• C&G 6032 the advanced craft certificate in plumbing
• EAL Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
