Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Kings College Hospital is a leading healthcare provider seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team. As a rotational position, this role offers a unique opportunity to work across various adult inpatient rotations, including neurology, neurosurgery, and trauma.
Main Responsibilities- Clinical Expertise
- Manage an autonomous caseload, assessing and treating patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
- Contribute to differential diagnosis and develop specialist SLT management plans.
- Introduce and train patients, families, and staff on alternative and augmentative communication aid systems.
- Coordinate and promote communication developments under senior therapist guidance.
- Discuss and advise on patient goals with clients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide complex and sensitive clinical information to patients and carers.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records within EPIC.
- Prepare and participate in annual job appraisals and 6-monthly reviews.
- Provide timely and accurate reports, including transfer and discharge reports.
- BSc or recognized postgraduate MSc or diploma in speech and language therapy.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council.
- Postgraduate training in communication disorders and aphasia therapy.
- Member of RCSLT.
- Supervision Course.
- Established experience with adult acquired and neurological disorders in an acute setting.
- Experience of working successfully as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the mental capacity act.
- Previous involvement with audit/research.
- Previous experience of instrumental assessment (VF/FEES).
- Experience of working in a rehab setting.
- Experience of student supervision and training.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Collaborative and consultative skills within multidisciplinary working.
Kings College Hospital is a large and busy teaching hospital with a unique profile of strong local services and a focused set of specialist services. The Speech and Language Therapy department has over 40 staff providing inpatient and outpatient services across a wide and diverse range of specialties.
