About the Role

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead our Countermeasure Development team, providing technical advice and support to customers and internal stakeholders. As a Principal Performance Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our in-house countermeasure simulation software tool, CounterWorX, and collaborating with our software development team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers in developing models, designing and adding new features to the countermeasure software, and solving customer challenges and requirements.
  • Collaborate with the software development team to ensure the assurance process for all releasable software products is followed.
  • Develop and maintain the CounterWorX tool, modelling physical interactions and phenomena across dynamic simulations.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their requirements and provide technical advice and support.
Requirements
  • Experience with at least one of Electro-Optics (EO), Infra-Red (IR), or Radio Frequency (RF) sensors and systems within a defence setting.
  • Detailed understanding of Physics/Mathematical principles at degree-level.
  • Experience with the engineering lifecycle, including requirements, design, prototyping, test, integration, deployment, and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience programming in MATLAB/Simulink/Python.
  • Mentoring and coaching of junior engineers.
  • Assisting with technical bid writing and estimation.
  • Demonstrating software products to potential customers.
