MPI Limited is seeking a highly skilled Optics Process Development Engineer to join our team.

This permanent, full-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the development and advancement of precision optical manufacturing processes.

Your Role:

  • You will play a key role in developing and refining processes for our client's range of high-precision component grinding machines.
  • This includes conducting rigorous testing, implementing process improvements, and collaborating with engineers to ensure optimal performance.
  • Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting machine installations, upgrades, and technical service at customer sites worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and optimization of grinding processes for precision optical components.
  • Conduct thorough process verification testing at both our facility and customer locations.
  • Provide comprehensive training to customers on the operation and maintenance of our advanced grinding machines.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver new machine builds and R&D projects within established timelines.
  • Assist in the commissioning and troubleshooting of ultra-precision machine tools, ensuring accurate alignment and performance.
  • Provide technical support to customers for aftermarket requests and upgrades, resolving issues promptly and effectively.

Your Qualifications:

  • A relevant engineering degree (Mechanical or Optical) or equivalent experience in the machine tool industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in optical metrology systems, including Taylor Hobson PGI optics, white light interferometry, and CMM systems.
  • Strong understanding of ultra-precision machine tools and their operation, with expertise in micron, nanometer, wavelength, and arc second data interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driver's license and passport for international travel.
