Job Overview

Position: Senior Engineer – Specialist in Mass Properties

Location: Flexible hybrid working options available

Compensation: Attractive salary package

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze mass property data for various systems and equipment to ensure effective weight and centroid management on high-value submarine projects.
  • Assist the Mass Properties Lead in compiling weight and centroid reports, providing updates to senior engineering leadership.
  • Work closely with design engineers to accurately assess mass, centroid, and design readiness of diverse mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Maintain an extensive database detailing the mass properties of components.
  • Contribute to and spearhead initiatives aimed at weight reduction, while tracking weight-related risks and opportunities across disciplines.
  • Examine CAD models to estimate mass properties and their associated uncertainties.
  • Employ statistical methods to present a comprehensive overview of weight risks and opportunities to stakeholders and senior management.

Required Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional engineering status (CEng/IEng) or a clear path towards achieving it.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Desirable:

  • Experience with large-scale, intricate electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, including interpretation, visualization, and presentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and related applications.
