Security Clearance Specialist

The Security Assistant will report to the Deputy Company Security Controller and be responsible for assisting with the overall security activities of the company. The primary focus will be on supporting the efficient and effective coordination of Personnel Security within the organisation, relating to security vetting and aftercare.
Key Responsibilities- Process vetting applications within the organisation for staff and contractors, providing support and advice for all types of vetting.
- Monitor existing clearances and proactively ensure renewals are carried out within a timely and efficient manner.
- Advise and update on changes in policies and procedures in respect of vetting.
- Liaise with external agencies, including the verification of internal and external clearances.
- Ensure Personnel Security risks are effectively managed by conducting rigorous checks and ensuring ongoing Personnel Security controls are applied throughout the organisation.
- Act as a point of contact for all staff and contractors for both specific vetting and general security enquiries, ensuring they are dealt with effectively and efficiently, taking into account data protection and other security considerations in relation to the disclosure of information.
- Support on Security Incident reporting, follow-up actions, and sharing learning from experiences for any security near-misses, and recording details of these.
- Provide project-specific security support for key projects.
- Be a point of contact for site-specific security responsibilities, i.e., issuing of site passes.
- Provide general Security assistance to the Security Department as and when required, including the delivery of security communications and awareness campaigns.
- Microsoft office suite of programmes, specifically an experienced user of Word and Excel.
- Previous experience in a similar security role would be beneficial.
- Attended DISA Training.
- Reliable.
- Self-motivated.
- Honest and Trustworthy.
- Good organisation.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise own workload.
- Methodical & accurate.
- Must be able to gain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
