Security Operations Coordinator

The Security Assistant is a key role within ASSYSTEM, responsible for supporting the efficient and effective coordination of Personnel Security within the organisation. This includes assisting with the overall security activities of the company, primarily focusing on supporting the Deputy Company Security Controller.
The successful candidate will be based at our Blackburn office, with hybrid working arrangements and an anticipated 2-3 days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities:- Processing Vetting Applications: The Security Assistant will be responsible for processing vetting applications within the organisation for staff and contractors, providing support and advice for all types of vetting.
- Monitoring Clearances: The role will involve monitoring existing clearances and proactively ensuring renewals are carried out within a timely and efficient manner.
- Advising on Policies and Procedures: The Security Assistant will advise and update on changes in policies and procedures in respect of vetting.
- Liaising with External Agencies: The role will involve liaising with external agencies, including the verification of internal and external clearances.
- Managing Personnel Security Risks: The Security Assistant will ensure Personnel Security risks are effectively managed by conducting rigorous checks and ensuring ongoing Personnel Security controls are applied throughout the organisation.
- Providing Security Support: The role will involve acting as a point of contact for all staff and contractors for both specific vetting and general security enquiries, ensuring they are dealt with effectively and efficiently, taking into account data protection and other security considerations in relation to the disclosure of information.
- Supporting Security Incident Reporting: The Security Assistant will support on Security Incident reporting, follow-up actions, and sharing learning from experiences for any security near-misses, and recording details of these.
- Providing Project-Specific Security Support: The role will involve providing project-specific security support for key projects.
- Site-Specific Security Responsibilities: The Security Assistant will be a point of contact for site-specific security responsibilities, i.e., issuing of site passes.
- General Security Assistance: The role will involve providing general Security assistance to the Security Department as and when required, including the delivery of security communications and awareness campaigns.
- Microsoft Office Suite: The successful candidate will be an experienced user of Word and Excel.
- Previous Security Experience: Previous experience in a similar security role would be beneficial.
- DISA Training: Attended DISA Training.
- Reliability: The Security Assistant must be reliable.
- Self-Motivation: The role requires a self-motivated individual.
- Honesty and Trustworthiness: The successful candidate must be honest and trustworthy.
- Organisation: Good organisation skills are essential.
- Time Management: The Security Assistant must be able to meet deadlines and prioritise their own workload.
- Methodical and Accurate: The role requires a methodical and accurate individual.
- Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to gain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
