Site Quality Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality professional to join our team at Dechra, a global specialist in veterinary pharmaceuticals. As a Site Quality Director, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our products and processes, and contributing to the success of our business.
The OpportunityAs a Site Quality Director, you will be responsible for leading the Quality team at our Skipton manufacturing facility, ensuring that quality standards and systems are implemented and maintained in compliance with UK, EU, and FDA cGMP. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements, manage risk, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the Quality team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties effectively.
- Develop and implement a sustainable quality strategy for the site, including resource planning, system implementation, and investment in quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage departmental activities and resource allocation, ensuring that budgets and timescales are met, and quality standards are maintained.
- Drive performance improvements across the departments, recognizing efficiencies and driving continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure strategic quality risk management activities are implemented, enabling the identification, mitigation, and escalation of risks that could adversely impact quality compliance.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities, including product recalls, license applications, defect reporting, and annual controlled drugs return processes.
- Monitor and improve performance using departmental KPIs, taking necessary action to communicate, advise, or assist according to performance levels.
- Ensure the Quality function operates aligned to the 5 strategic pillars across the site and wider DPM&S division (People, Safety, Quality, Deliver, and Cost).
- Support the development of the quality team by mentoring and coaching team members to improve their knowledge and secure succession plans.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and site departments to ensure compliance to current standards.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers with respect to quality aspects in supporting existing business and new product introductions.
- Support the implementation of new initiatives, including systems and processes, to ensure new ways of working are implemented and compliance maintained.
- Establish and implement necessary communication strategies for the improvement and awareness of quality issues across all departments.
- Troubleshoot and contribute technically to manufacturing and testing issues as they arise.
- Report on changes in standards and performance against standards, and provide feedback on quality performance and Quality KPIs at the appropriate forums.
- Host regulator and customer audits, and conduct supplier audits as necessary.
- Liaise with the Internal Network Quality Director to ensure consistency and continuity of projects across Dechra Manufacturing, and deputise where required.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Quality professional who can demonstrate a strong track record of working in a pharmaceutical or related industry. You will have a thorough knowledge of GMP, UK, EU, and FDA regulations, and experience in devising, implementing, and maintaining quality systems compliance with these requirements. You will also have excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
