Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Nuclear Defence Industry

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the nuclear defence industry. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting current operations and future programmes, ensuring the design integrity and justification for safety of key defence infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support the authorship, development, assessment, and maintenance of Engineering Design Substantiation for site Nuclear Facilities.
  2. Authorise, develop, assess, maintain, and manage Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.
  3. Presentation of site Design substantiations to site 'Due Process' nuclear safety committees.
  4. Production and development of Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) Schedule, operating procedures, and results to satisfy design requirements and safety case through life.
  5. Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission, and recycle engineering processes, systems, services, and products in a nuclear/high-risk environment.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum of 5 years' experience in the design assessment of Mechanical systems to withstand static and dynamic loads.
  2. Broad experience in mechanical engineering, preferably with experience of some of the following Mechanical systems; Pump systems, cranes, heating ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC), pressure systems, and Diesel Generators.
  3. Experience of producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant mechanical design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry.
  4. Mechanical Engineering degree.
  5. Detailed knowledge of the Design Intent for Mechanical Infrastructure in the nuclear industry or similar high hazard industry.
