We are seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer - SRE to join our team in Nottingham. This individual will focus on managing the evolution and reliability of existing and in-progress service applications. As a Technical lead for developers, the role involves enhancing back-end services for our most critical customer and data applications within the cloud environment.

We need a seasoned professional with expertise in technologies like Java, who can inspire their colleagues on a daily basis. Given that AWS is our preferred hosting platform, experience in Cloud-based architecture is highly valuable.

Principal Software Development Engineers at Capital One lead by example, fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They excel at navigating ambiguity and unraveling complexity.

What You'll Do

  • Lead engineers in enhancing back-end services for critical customer and data applications within the cloud.
  • Shape and execute team goals through hands-on engineering.
  • Drive engineering best practices and standards.
  • Innovate within your team and technical domain.
  • Lead projects from inception to delivery.
  • Estimate and plan work in an agile environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with microservices on container orchestration environments.
  • Passion for Testing frameworks.
  • Proficiency in using monitoring & logging tools like NewRelic or Logzio.
  • Strong background in back-end architectural and design patterns.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot operational issues.
