Nuclear Safety Specialist

Simpson Booth Limited is seeking a highly skilled Criticality Safety Assessor to join their team. As a Criticality Safety Assessor, you will be responsible for providing nuclear criticality modelling and safety assessment to support major projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Undertake criticality assessment and associated activities, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions.
- Support the Safety Case Manager in developing and implementing safety cases.
- Collaborate with EUP safety case and engineering leads to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Advise the company and client leadership on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
- Support client interactions with regulators and safety committees.
- Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of UK and international standards and practices, including American Nuclear Society and ONR Technical Assessment Guides.
- Experience in nuclear criticality safety assessment and HAZAN production.
- Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
- Knowledge of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, and regulatory guidance on safety assessment.
- Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
- Knowledge of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
- Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
- Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
