Payroll Specialist

Howett Thorpe is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team in Woking. This role will be offered on a mainly remote basis with a requirement to work 1 day a week in the office or more if preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate processing of 1300 employees, delivering full payroll reports and liaising with Finance and HR.
  • Deal with statutory payments and deductions, RTI reporting, and period closure processes.
  • Calculate adjustments for new starters and leavers, as well as job changes.
  • Process high volumes of monthly temporary payments, identifying errors.
  • Ensure colleagues are paid correctly and on time.
  • Process and issue leaver letters, payslips, pension letters, and P45s.
  • Perform manual tax and NI calculations for payments outside the normal processing timetable.
  • Upload monthly pension reports to pensions company portals.
  • Develop effective working partnerships with HR and Operational managers.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar position.
  • Specialist knowledge of payroll and HR systems.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of PAYE rules and auto-enrolment pension.
  • Strong Excel skills.
