Job Overview

The Venn Group is seeking a commercially minded, dynamic, and strategic procurement professional to join their team as a Category Manager. This is a strategic role that will be a key driver of value for the NHS and wider public sector through delivering projects, frameworks, and calling off procurements for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance procurement services and explore new commercial opportunities to drive value for the NHS and wider public sector.
  • Maintain client relationships through high-quality service, ensuring that customers receive the best possible value for money.
  • Ensure value-for-money sourcing solutions and monitor contracts to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Secure cash and efficiency savings to improve patient outcomes and drive business growth.
  • Support sourcing, procurement, and contract management projects to ensure successful delivery and implementation.
  • Track savings and quality improvements to measure the impact of procurement activities.
  • Use tools for project management, contract management, spend analysis, and benefits tracking to ensure effective procurement processes.
  • Report data with presentations, charts, and pivot tables to provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Manage complex procurement activities from planning to contract award, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
  • Produce and upload tender documents to ensure compliance with procurement regulations.
  • Develop contract renewal workplans to ensure seamless transition and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Coordinate contract compliance across member Trusts to ensure consistency and transparency.
  • Ensure consistency and transparency in projects and evaluations, using data and analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Update and share knowledge with colleagues to ensure that best practices are shared and adopted across the organization.
  • Travel to maintain stakeholder contact and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research to support strategic sourcing and procurement activities.
  • Analyze procurement projects and budget impacts for Trusts to ensure that procurement activities are aligned with business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CIPS qualified, studying, or equivalent experience in procurement and category management.
  • Degree, or equivalent qualifications/experience in a relevant field, such as business, management, or a related field.
  • Functional procurement experience with best practice in category management, including strategic sourcing and procurement project management.
  • Relevant Category Services procurement experience with a history of successful delivery, including contract management and procurement project management.
  • NHS/Public Sector experience with knowledge of UK and EU procurement legislation, including the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
