In this position, you will engage with a diverse group of scientists, software developers, product strategists, and fellow bioinformaticians to enhance and propel innovative research initiatives and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside an Agile development team to design, test, document, and maintain bioinformatics workflows and tools, primarily utilizing Python along with some C# and R.
  • Support project management efforts by collecting user requirements and translating them into actionable technical tasks for the team.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members, providing insights on software design, bioinformatics methodologies, and effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Review and provide expert feedback on new code submissions through pull requests.
  • Encourage collaboration with internal stakeholders to identify and address the dynamic needs of our organization.
  • Produce high-quality data packages and comprehensive reports for clients.
  • Drive innovation by pinpointing new research and development avenues.

Essential Competencies Requirements

  • Post-PhD experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related disciplines.
  • Expertise in utilizing standard bioinformatics tools and data repositories.
  • Strong programming and software development capabilities.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Python development and testing.
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and version control systems like Git.
  • Experience in creating user-facing applications (e.g., command-line tools or web-based solutions).
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects efficiently, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
