Job Summary

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Piping Materials Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with project specifications, procedures, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Review work of Contractors to ensure adherence to project specifications, procedures, and quality requirements.
  2. Piping Material Classes: Develop and maintain Piping Material Classes using Smartplant Reference Data (SRD).
  3. Piping Calculations: Undertake and check related piping calculations, including wall thickness, branch reinforcement, vacuum, line blank thickness, etc.
  4. Requisitions and Procurement: Plan, coordinate, and prepare requisitions, including Technical Bid Evaluations for all bulk piping components.
  5. Vendor Review: Review vendor documents for all piping purchase orders.
  6. Technical Specifications: Develop technical, design, and purchasing specifications for all bulk piping components.
  7. Specialty Piping Items: Develop specialty piping items as required.
  8. Technical Queries and Deviations: Review of Technical Queries and Deviation Requests, and work with Client and other disciplines to develop a response.
  9. Piping Materials Coordination: Coordinate piping materials technical detail for several Contractors.
  10. MSDs and P&IDs: Review of MSDs, P&IDs, and inter-discipline coordination as required.
Requirements

Degree: Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered Engineer, or suitable equivalent.

Experience: Extensive experience and technical expertise in piping materials and valves.

Specialization: Experience of piping material requirements specific to petrochemical and polymer plants, and application of non-metallic materials.

Procedures: Understanding of the application of Company procedures, and design guides.

Knowledge: Broad knowledge of the role of piping materials in procurement, delivery, fabrication, and constructability.

Software: Detailed knowledge of Piping Material Specification software SmartPlant Reference Data SRD, etc.

Certifications: Specific knowledge of ASME B31.3 design and materials is essential.

Regulations: Understanding of industry or local regulatory codes and standards including ASME, BIS, API, AWWA, ASTM, and MSS.

Preferences: Experience of working in a PMC role is preferred.

Assignment Conditions

If you are successful, Bechtel Corporation will organize your relocation and logistics (Indian visas, travel, and provision of accommodation in Mumbai).

  • We will provide accommodation for you whilst you are in the country (single or accompanied by spouse).

If you prefer rotation:

  • Our single status rotational schedule is an option for you. This means that you would mobilize and spend 10 weeks working in the country and then you would go home to the UK for 2 weeks and so on for the project duration.
