About the Role

This is a full-time position for a CAD Technician/Draughtsperson to provide a Drawing Support Service to the Engineering Functions within Liberty Speciality Steels.

The jobholder will be part of the Engineering Services Department, which provides various engineering support services to the business. In this role, you will collaborate with project/design engineers, plant engineers, and operations managers to create engineering drawings, manage bills of materials (BOMs), maintain engineering databases, inspect engineering components, provide excellent customer service, and deliver technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compose engineering drawings and manage document storage systems.
  • Update the Autodesk Vault system with drawings and manuals.
  • Locate drawings from and within the archive department, update records by obsolescing or removing redundant drawings from the system, and cross-reference to replacement drawings where necessary.
  • Provide guidance to other users of AutoCAD and Vault.
  • Facilitate the Site Services Certificate process used to identify services and utilities when planning excavations.

About the Team

This role will contribute to the running of a unique metals recycling facility that turns scrap metal into materials for the future through electrical arc furnaces, casting machines, rolling mills, and more. This is a diverse manufacturing business looking to innovate traditional manufacturing processes for a more environmentally friendly world using green energy and recycling at its core.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate should hold an engineering qualification or have significant experience in engineering drawing, an AutoCAD qualification, and 5+ years' experience in CAD drawing and document management (Autodesk Vault or similar).
  • The jobholder needs to be a good communicator at all levels as a proactive team player and possess necessary skills to work with senior managers and section engineers on various projects simultaneously.
  • Other experience that may be useful includes problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent organizational skills/time management/able to work to deadlines and work ethic, and the ability and confidence to develop and deliver training to colleagues.

Working Environment

This role will operate on a Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm basis.
