PCB Design Engineer

Job Summary:

Leonardo is seeking a skilled PCB Design Engineer to join our Electronics Engineering Function in Edinburgh. As a key member of our PCB Layout Team, you will be responsible for creating innovative layout solutions for complex, multi-layer digital, analog, and RF PCBs with multiple interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and create complex multi-layer PCBs with multiple design interfaces, including RF, digital, FPGA, power supply, and mixed-signal circuitry.
  • Read and interpret schematics to design PCBs in accordance with design intent.
  • Familiarity with high pin count parts, high-speed signal routing, differential pairs, and standard interfaces such as SMA, SMP, and USB.
  • Validate design data to ensure compliance with supplier capability.
  • Generate manufacturing output data packs to company standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide advice to electronic engineers on design rules for PCB tools, materials, and substrate technology.
  • Liaise with external suppliers, PCB Assembly houses, and PCB Fabricators.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, supported by relevant industry experience and a specialization in PCB design.
  • Familiarity with current industry-standard ECAD tools used for PCB design and layout. Experience with Siemens Xpedition is desirable, although toolset training will be provided.
