We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Management Accountant to become part of our fast-growing team as we continue to onboard new clients.

Tasks

As a Management Accountant at Virgate, you’ll be responsible for managing your own portfolio of multi-site clients, typically ranging from 2 to 10 sites, with no existing finance teams. You’ll act as the main point of contact for all finance-related matters within their businesses.

Our clients’ finances are complex, as are their systems. You’ll integrate with all of their systems, from POS systems to stock & inventory and payroll. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Regularly reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Posting accruals, prepayments, and other relevant journals.
  • Preparing month-end management accounts reports with commentary.
  • Producing ad hoc reports for clients as needed.
  • Preparing VAT returns, cash flow forecasting, and budget setting.

Building and maintaining strong client relationships is key, as you’ll advise on best practices and collaborate with team members to meet deadlines when necessary.

Requirements
  • Experience: You’ll need at least 3 financial year cycles of experience in a previous Management Accountant or similar role, with a part or full ACCA/CIMA/AAT qualification.
  • Client Interaction: A passion for client interaction is essential. You’ll need to know when to pick up the phone, schedule a Zoom call, or just check in with a friendly “Hi, how are you?”
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Lookups, and Pivot Tables, is crucial.
  • Xero Knowledge: Experience with Xero is highly desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
  • Organisation: You’ll need to be organised, methodical, and capable of prioritizing your workload to meet deadlines.Adaptability: An interest in new technology and cloud software is ideal, along with the ability to learn quickly.
