**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**:Employment Advisor

**Location**:Leeds (head office) / Home Based (Hybrid) - available to travel to locations across West Yorkshire

**Reports to**:Office Manager

**Functional Responsibility to**:Employability, Data & Compliance and Training teams.

**Other Regular Relationships**:Participants/Learners, Employers, Stakeholders and Referral Partners.

**Main Purpose of the Role**

The Employment Advisor’s primary purpose is to identify and engage eligible and suitable participants looking for work, supporting them to develop their personal and employability skills in order to secure employment.

The role must assess and complete goal focused action plans with participants, provide ongoing Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and coach participants on a one to one and group basis delivering a range of supportive interventions to ensure progression. In addition the post holder will identify and engage with employers to promote our recruitment and skills training services in order to secure work opportunities.

The post holder has responsibility for meeting the compliance requirements in line with the relevant legislation and the requirements of respective contracts, and may draw on support from the rest of the team in order to ensure objectives are met.

**Main Duties & Accountabilities**
- To promote our employability and skills services to a range of stakeholders and use a variety of methods to identify and engage eligible and suitable participants looking for work.
- To assess and complete goal focused action plans with participants and provide support and motivation to achieve their goals.
- To deliver high quality end to end Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) while participants are on programme.
- To promote and develop participants mind-set, self-confidence, and motivation so that they succeed in their journey to work.
- To coach participants on a one to one and group basis delivering a range of supportive interventions to help them achieve sustainable employment.
- To use a variety of methods to identify and engage with a range of employers to secure work opportunities for the participants we support.
- To support participants with interview preparation, skills, and techniques preparing them to a high standard.
- To facilitate and support job search with the participants using relevant online job sites.
- To shortlist and match participants to work opportunities within engaged employers.
- To ensure participants access our additional skills training leading to recognised qualifications in demand by employers.
- To engage and maintain regular contact with participants to support them to sustain their job for a up to six months (where required).
- To gather and act on regular feedback from participants and employers.
- To use the relevant case management and performance management processes as required, including MI systems, effectively in accordance with the requirements of the delivery contracts.
- To support the delivery of any events, job fairs, workshops and/or training courses that support operational targets.
- To ensure that timely input and communication of key documents, evidence and information including participant details onto relevant MI systems is achieved ensuring contractual compliance is maintained to the highest standard at all times.
- Seek to improve his/her own performance, contribution, knowledge, skills and participate in training and developmental activities as required.
- Ensure the implementation Diversity, Equality & Inclusion practices, and compliance with Safeguarding/Prevent, Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

**Skills and Experience**
- At least 2 years’ experience of engaging and supporting participants journey into work.
- Ideally hold a current IAG qualification or is committed to achieving one within 6 months.
- Has experience of working in the funded sector, ideally welfare to work and/or adult education, or sectors which are aimed at supporting individuals into employment e.g., recruitment.
- Ideally has knowledge and understanding of relevant funding streams e.g., European Social Fund, Adult Education Budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with people from a wide age range, backgrounds, and cultures.
- Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain good links and relationships with relevant organisations.
- Able to work effectively and constructively in a fast-moving environment.
