DBS Disclosure at Enhanced level will be required prior to any offer of employment and this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

**The Role:
You will work alongside the school attendance team and other children's families and education teams to secure and promote school attendance. Be part of a new team to develop a co-ordinated response to children are absent from school, including individual pupil casework.

Key tasks will include:

- Setting up and chairing meetings to review severely absent pupils with schools and other agencies and monitoring outcomes.
- Casework around severely absent and other vulnerable pupils
- Initiating, co-ordinating and chairing Fast Track Panels for prosecution and monitoring progress, as required
- Assisting with monitoring schools to ensure they are meeting their responsibilities regarding attendance and have effective strategies in place to improve this.
- Providing advice and guidance to schools
- Working alongside Link Co-ordinators, caseworkers and the school attendance team.
- Undertake casework with schools, particularly in relation to persistently absent pupils.
- Developing relationships with schools to ensure statutory duties are fulfilled and attendance is promoted effectively.
- Promoting a multi-agency response to pupils who are severely absent, ensuring that agencies have a shared view of the barriers to attendance and developing systems to enhance this.

**What you'll need to succeed
You will need to demonstrate a high level of competency and accuracy in recording, report writing and other written work, as well as the ability to analyse and use attendance data. You should be able to draft legal documents, although training will be given and offer both challenge and support to schools with regard to all aspects of improving attendance and trading related services. You should demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as an understanding of a wide range of legislation relevant to the post.
You will need to hold a driving licence and daily use of a vehicle, or the ability to get around the city is, as you will be required to travel around the schools in Portsmouth.
